Sports halls across the land are now safe from exuberant batsmen splattering leather at their back walls – the summer is here!
And with the arrival of the sunshine, The Cricketer Village Cup is never far away. Round 1 is upon us, with matches being played on April 29. This is the 47th Village Cup and this year’s final will once again take place at Lord’s, on September 16th.
While not all teams will be underway on Sunday, Oxfordshire and Hampshire are sure for a full round of fixtures, with both bulging with 16 clubs in each. Last year’s Hampshire winners Liphook & Ripsley will be facing the team they beat in the regional final last year, Sparsholt.
2017 winners Reed will begin their second defence of the trophy in round 2 with a home tie against Langleybury. This will take place on May 13.
The Village Cup is a 40-over contest between 300 clubs across 32 regions. Matches are played every other Sunday with a 1pm start time. Full eligibility and match rules are available to view. Fixtures can be viewed here
