Dave Christie (Freuchie)

Inducted: 2023

Dave Christie’s Freuchie side made history in 1985 when they became the first – and, to date, only – Scottish club to win the National Village Cup.

Also notable for ending in a tie (Freuchie took a nerve-jangling victory by virtue of losing fewer wickets), it was the stalwart captain that marshalled his side to a famous win that was chronicled by BBC Radio Scotland earlier this year.

Known as ‘Mr. Cricket’ in the Fife  village, Christie is so well-regarded in his locality that he’s even had a small housing estate named after him.

“It’s every cricketer’s dream to play at Lord’s, especially in a final,” he said. “But to be the first Scottish village team and to win makes it very, very special. Legendary!”
