The Ruth Strauss Foundation

Here for families facing grief
The Ruth Strauss Foundation, proud sponsors of the Cawston Press Village Cup, provide specialist emotional support for families navigating a parent’s incurable cancer diagnosis. They also advocate for increased research into non-smoking lung cancer.
Cricket is very close to the Foundation’s heart. In early 2018, Ruth Strauss, mum of two young boys, was diagnosed with an incurable cancer that affects non-smokers. Towards the end of her life, the idea of the Foundation arose out of her wish to help other families in similar circumstances.
Every year in the UK 46,300 children are affected by the death of a parent, with 127 facing the death of a parent each day. Through specialist counselling, the Ruth Strauss Foundation help parents navigate the toughest conversations they will have with their children.
They’ve directly supported more than 3,000 families since 2019 and thousands of others have benefited from the free and essential resources they provide.
In future years, they need to support thousands more families and train thousands more healthcare and educational professionals.
