A key player in three title-winning sides, Ricky Needham went back-to-back in 1981 and 1982 (the second as skipper) before captaining the Glamorganshire side to further success in 1991.

A man for the big stage, his final contributions included figures of 3 for 22 and 3 for 21, but Needham also starred away from Lord’s – a mammoth 201 not out against Wenvoe in 1985 is still talked about.

“My abiding memory of the competition was the interest generated as the side progressed. If we were fortunate to have a home semi-final, we would anticipate a crowd of over 1,000 people,” said Needham. “I had the pleasure of playing with and against many extremely talented cricketers and consider it a huge honour and privilege to be inducted into the Village Cup Hall of Fame.”
