Woodhouse Grange’s 2007 title-winning side
Three former winners will be among the last 16 clubs left in this year’s Cawston Press Village Cup.
Woodhouse Grange, Goatacre and Reed are still in with a chance of return visits to Lord’s after winning their first national round gams yesterday.
Yorkshire club Woodhouse Grange, who were champions in 1995, 2007, 2014 and 2015, progressed after a 93-run home win in a mini-Roses derby against Lancashire’s Torrisholme.
Wiltshire’s Goatacre, who triumphed in 1988 and 1990, beat Cornish side Stithians by 106 runs.
Woodhouse Grange will now face either Cheshire club Alvanley or Scottish side Falkland. Their rearranged game will be played this coming Sunday.
Goatacre will entertain Oxfordshire’s Horspath, who won a last-ball thriller against Glamorgan club Clydach yesterday.
Hertfordshire club Reed, winners in 2012, 2017 and 2019, overcame Crowhurst Park and will now travel to Surrey’s Blackheath.
