Two former champions and one first-time entrant are among this year’s Cawston Press Village Cup quarter-finalists.

Yorkshire’s Woodhouse Grange and Wiltshire’s Goatacre progressed after beating Cheshire club Alvanley and Oxfordshire side Horspath respectively.

Four-time champions Woodhouse Grange (1995, 2007, 2014 and 2015) will now play Sacriston Colliery in the last eight, after the Durham side beat Lancashire club Read. A full audio report on Woodhouse Grange’s win is available from Luke Edwards, who commentated on the game for Live Sports FM.

Goatacre, tournament winners in 1988 and 1990, will now host Gloucestershire’s Charlton Kings, whose dream run in their inaugural tournament continues after they defeated Somerset’s Temple Cloud.

A third former winner, three-time winners Reed, from Hertfordshire, lost their tie at Surrey side Blackheath.

In the Midlands, Nottinghamshire club Cuckney will entertain Herefordshire’s Brockhampton after their home defeats of Quatt, from Shropshire, and South Wingfield, from Derbyshire, respectively.

Suffolk’s Woolpit, the only away side to triumph across yesterday’s fixtures, will now host Blackheath to complete the last eight line-up after beating Buckinghamshire group winners Chorleywood.
